Kashmir is known for its scenic beauty and hospitality of Kashmiris. In spite of multi month strikes going on in the valley, many things are turning out to be positive and results are worth celebrating. How many knew about the name TAJAMUL ISLAM? And how many of you knew about the sub-junior Kick-Boxing world championship held in Italy?
A 14 year girl from Tarakpura village of Bandipura district located 65 km from Srinagar, got much popularity from 2015 edition of National Kick-Boxing Championship where Tajamul bagged Gold in sub-junior category. And continuing the success ladder she qualified for World Championship. On Nov. 9 when whole nation was standing outside the banks after the surgical strike on Black Money, Tajamul won the final match of Championship defeating the opponent from US.
Coach cum Mentor of Tajamul, Master Fasil Ali quoted, “In five days Tajamul won six matches”, having said that he added about the training of Tajamul, “Tajamul came to me when she just passed kindergarten” he added, “We lack even the basic infrastructure in Kashmir, yet we have won Gold”. This shows the true calibre of Kashmiris.
The wonder kid from Kashmir added on how she joined this game,” One day I was walking down the stadium and saw young boys and girls punching and kicking, I was attracted and asked my father for joining and he allowed me”.
Islam landed in Mumbai from Italy on Nov 14, co-incidentally it was Children’s day in India. Approaching 14 years of age she is the youngest ever to win this title. Tajamul is also a student of Army Goodwill School, Bandipura. Amidst the strikes called by the separatists this is a great news coming in from Kashmir and it feels like a festival being celebrated in Tarakpura.
During the on-going hard times, only Kashmiri students are writing board exams in such huge numbers. This is another great news coming in from Kashmir. Hope to get many more happy news from Kashmir in coming days.
