Barcelona star Lionel Messi has reportedly adviced Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriuez to leave Santiago Bernabeu. Reports are coming that, Messi met with the Colombian star after the El Classico draw at the Camp Nou last Saturday and urged him to leave the Los Blancos. The reason behind this advise is given about the playing time being given to the World Cup Golden Shoe Winner.
This incident came to light when the Colombian was left on the bench during the El Classico by the Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane. The French Coach prefered Castilla striker Mariano Diaz ahead of the midfielder as a second half substitute.
DiarioGol says Messi sought out James after the El Clasico to offer the Colombian his support. Messi thus advised him to leave the Madrid side and should see a club where he can get more playing time and can show case his unique talent.
James joined Real Madrid in July 2014 during the FIFA World Cup from Monaco. Although he had a brilliant start to his Madrid side for the first year. But has been struggling since Zidane has took over the managerial post at the Bernabeu.
As the Colombian midfielder has run out of favors at the Los Blancos and head coach Zidane doesn’t seems to be happy about the efforts made by the mid fielder, Messi advised him to leave the rival side. The Real manager states that the midfielder will be an important player at the club and insists that he will get more game time in the future.
In the first year of his career in Madrid he featured 46 times and scored 17 goals, also provided same number of assists. But in the coming year he only appeared for 32 times and thus scoring 8 times providing 10 assists. In the current season he appeared only 13 times and scoring only at 2 events.
A versatile footballer who can play in several positions across the midfield and the front line, having played as a playmaker, winger, and a central midfielder, Rodriguez is often praised for his pace, technical skills and his ability to create chances for his team-mates as an advanced playmaker.
The player was linked with a number of clubs last summer with a potential move out of the Bernabeu in cards, Premier League clubs the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea and Serie A side Juventus and AC Milan, were keen on signing the player. Instead, the Colombian decided to stay at the club and fight for a place in the team under Zidane.
Following the situation, Barcelona star Lionel Messi, who has always adored the Colombian midfielder, believes that Rodriguez needs to find a club where he can get more game time. Messi believes that the 25-year-old midfielder is not being fair with himself by staying put at the Los Blancos.
